Bodegas Yuntero has received the gold medal for its organic red wine Mundo de Yuntero 2014, in the XVI edition of the International Organic Wine Competition EcoRacimo 2015, organized by the Provincial Council of Córdoba, the City Council of Montilla and the Valor Ecológico Association. CAAE (Ecovalia). The main objective of the EcoRacimo awards, in whose 2015 edition a total of 178 samples were presented, is to highlight the quality of wine made with organic grapes.
The red Mundo de Yuntero is a wine obtained after careful preparation and selection of grape varieties from organic farming Tempranillo (85%) and Syrah (15%). It is cherry colored with purple tones, with aromas reminiscent of ripe berries and wild red fruits. In the mouth, it is harmonious, structured and with character.
In 1992, the Jesús del Perdón Cooperative, to which Bodegas Yuntero belongs, was a pioneer in Castilla-La Mancha in producing and marketing wines from organic farming, dedicating five hectares of its land exclusively to this type of vineyard. Currently, the cooperative owns up to 1,700 hectares for the cultivation of organic vineyards, making it the most important winery in Spain for this grape denomination. During the last 2014 harvest, of the 95 million kilos of grapes collected by the cooperative members of Bodegas Yuntero, 15 million came from organically farmed vineyards.
Yuntero with the Environment
The Jesús del Perdón Cooperative is committed to the Environment in all its areas of production, starting with the cultivation of the fields, with vineyards not subjected to any type of chemical, phytosanitary, or nitrogen treatment. With respect to the winery facilities, in 2013 designs began to build a new waste control and treatment plant, in compliance with discharge regulations. The treatment plant came into operation in 2014 with two ponds with a capacity of up to one million liters each.
In anticipation of future production growth, Bodegas Yuntero will invest another 280,000 euros this year in the expansion of the treatment plant and in the improvement of all its purification processes. In this way, the total investment allocated to this new infrastructure will amount to 500.00 euros.
In January 2015, Bodegas Yuntero was awarded the SIGFITO awards for its work in recycling phytosanitary products. These awards, awarded by the non-profit entity Sigfito Agroenvases, recognize the efforts made by the Cooperative in conserving the environment through the collection of phytosanitary packaging for subsequent recycling, as well as its commitment to the sustainable development of agriculture. .
