Bodegas Yuntero has received one gold medal and two bronze medals in the 40th edition of the Challenge International du Vin competition, which took place in the town of Bourg (France) at the beginning of April. The Epílogo Blanco 2015 wine has won the gold medal. The bronze medals went to Epílogo Roble 2013 and Yuntero Blanco 2015.
A total of 4,162 wines – from thirty-seven countries – have participated in this 40th edition, of which 60% were red, 25% white, 6% sparkling, 5% rosé, 3% sweet and 1% brandy. Of the wines that entered the competition, only 33% received any medal. The jury was made up of 704 professional tasters, of up to 21 different nationalities.
The Challenge International du Vin is organized by the Concours Des Vins (CDV) association and has been held since 1971, being one of the oldest wine competitions in the neighboring country. It has ISO 9001 certification, guaranteeing the professionalism and quality of the organization.
Epilogue Blanco 2015, one gold and three times silver
The Epílogo white wine from Bodegas Yuntero 2015 is made with the Sauvignon Blanc (90%) and Moscatel de Gran Menudo (10%) grape varieties. Each variety is worked separately to later make the final blend.
It is a bright, pale yellow wine with great aromatic intensity. The floral and exotic aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc variety (grapefruit, mango, passion fruit) are very well integrated with the muscatel tones of the Muscatel variety. On the palate, it is a very fresh wine, with good volume. It has a honeyed, soft and silky sensation. The small natural carbonic point that the wine has gives it freshness. The palate is long and persistent.
El joven blanco Epílogo 2015 suma una medalla de oro (Challenge International du vin) y tres de plata (Vinalies Internationales en Francia; Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition en España, y Finger Lakes International Wine Competition en USA).
Epilogue Roble 2013, three silver and one bronze
The Epílogo Roble red wine from the 2013 vintage is composed of the Tempranillo and Merlot grape varieties, at 65% and 35%, respectively. Each grape variety is made independently (fermentation for approximately 10 days at 24ºC, and aging in mixed oak barrels – American and French – for 5 months). After this process, the final blend is made.
It is a wine with an intense color: purplish cherry red with a garnet rim. On the nose, aromas of red forest fruits, violets and fruit compote (currant, blackberry, cherry) intermingle with the pleasant aromas of barrel aging (notes of coconut, vanilla, roasted and smoked). In the mouth, it is tasty and well structured. With a long and very persistent finish.
Yuntero Blanco 2015, awarded in Germany, France and Spain
The Yuntero Blanco 2015 wine is made with the Macabeo (85%) and Sauvignon Blanc (15%) grape varieties. It is characterized by its pale steely yellow color, with greenish tones. It is a clean, crystalline and bright wine, in which floral and fruity aromas mix. The Sauvignon Blanc grape variety gives it a somewhat honeyed profile, resulting in a very interesting aromatic complexity. In the mouth it is intense, frank and cheerful, with great harmony between its components, and long persistence.
During 2016 it has received a gold medal in Germany (Berliner Wein Trophy), and two bronzes: one in Spain (Quality Awards of the DO La Mancha Regulatory Council), and another in France (Challenge International du Vin).

So far this year, the Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative has won a total of twenty-three awards in national and international competitions of recognized prestige, which serve as a great reference for the final consumer.
