New image for "Lazarillo" by Yuntero
With the launch of young wines on the market, Bodegas Yuntero wanted to renew the image of its brand “Lazarillo”, one of the oldest in the winery. It was registered as a brand in 1968 and definitively obtained approval for its name in 1971. A year later, and exclusively for the members of the Cooperative, the first wines bottled under the “Lazarillo” brand were released. The name refers to the novel by an unknown author, Lazarillo de Tormes, considered a precursor of the Spanish picaresque novel and whose first editions date back to 1554.
Like the protagonist of the novel, the “Lazarillo” from Bodegas Yuntero, is characterized, both in its white and red wine versions, by its freshness, youth and mischief. Both are young wines, made with the grape of the year, the Verdejo variety, the white Lazarillo, and the Tempranillo variety, the red variety.
The new “Lazarillo” label, which the 2015 vintage wine already sports, highlights the figure of a small infant - dressed in a colorful cape and wide-brimmed hat - who acts as a guide to a blind man. With this image, Yuntero wanted to make more reference to the novel and its protagonist: Lázaro, a lover of good wine, who, after a journey of “fortunes and adversities”, ends up landing in La Mancha.
World Bulk Wine Exhibition
Parallel to the presentations of young wines in Madrid and Manzanares, Bodegas Yuntero is in Amsterdam, participating in the seventh edition of the largest bulk wine fair in the world in terms of business volume, the World Bulk Wine Exhibition (November 23-24).
Much of the production of the Cooperative is destined to make wine to the taste of the consumer in each market. With 100 million kilos of grapes received during the 2015 harvest, Bodegas Yuntero has the capacity to offer a wide range of wines made with different varieties of grapes –conventional and organic– and satisfy the tastes of each country or client.
The quality of these Bodegas Yuntero wines are endorsed by important supply contracts with large national and international companies, such as Iberia or British Airways airlines, for which Bodegas Yuntero has supplied the white wine that is served on all its flights, since January. 2015.
