SWFCP Certification and Carbon Footprint: a commitment to sustainability
Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection (SWfCO) is a certification developed by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) and that defines the sustainability criteria that wineries must meet, acting on four fundamental pillars: environmental, social, economic and governance; criteria, all of which are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to make it a comprehensive sustainability certificate.
Regarding the verification of the Carbon Footprint, the calculation has been carried out following the globally standardized protocol called GHG Protocol. This certificate is essential to establish a starting point from which to implement an emissions reduction strategy.
The Quality Department of Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias Castilla-La Mancha, with its manager, Mª Ángeles García Chico, and the technician Daniel Rojas, has worked intensely and jointly with our staff to obtain the SWFCP (Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection) certifications. ) and calculation and verification of the carbon footprint.
Achieving these certifications is essential for cooperative companies like ours because, on the one hand, we have anticipated the challenge of planning our activity from a global perspective and promoting sustainable development as a whole, betting on social progress, environmental balance and economic growth and, on the other hand, because we are prepared to market our products in the most demanding markets, in which clients and consumers increasingly demand quality guarantees and a real and tangible commitment to sustainability in a broad sense.
