Bodegas Yuntero wins two gold medals and two silver medals in the 19th edition of the international Berliner Wein Trophy 2015 competition, which recently took place in Berlin (Germany). The wines awarded with gold medals are the whites Epílogo and Yuntero Macabeo, both from the 2014 vintage. With silver, the reds Yuntero Reserva 2008 and Epílogo Roble 2012 have been awarded.
The Berliner Wein Trophy competition has the endorsement and sponsorship of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), an organization that guarantees the holding of the competitions in compliance with international tasting standards, and the International Union of Oenologists. (UIOE), a group that represents more than 20,000 professionals and 12,000 companies in the wine sector.
It is, therefore, one of the competitions with the strictest controls in the world, giving the award-winning wines and wineries a seal of quality and indisputable excellence.
White Epilogue 2014, three-time Gold medal
With the gold obtained in Germany, there are now three gold medals won by the Epílogo Blanco 2014 wine: in the aforementioned Berliner Wein Trophy 2015, and in the Vinalies Internationales in Paris and Bacchus 2015 in Madrid, organized by the Union of Oenologists. of France and by the Spanish Union of Tasters, respectively.
The Epílogo white wine 2014, with La Mancha Designation of Origin, is made with the Sauvignon Blanc (90%) and Moscatel (10%) grape variety. It is of great aromatic intensity, with the floral and exotic aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc variety (grapefruit, mango, passion fruit) being very well integrated with the muscatel tones of the muscatel variety. In the mouth it is a very fresh wine with good volume. The combination of the two grape varieties gives it a honeyed, soft and silky sensation.
Yuntero Macabeo 2014, gold medal in Berlin
The Yuntero Macabeo white wine, from the 2014 vintage, has won its first gold medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy 2015. With the La Mancha Designation of Origin, it is made with the Macabeo grape varieties (85%) and Sauvignon Blanc (15% ). It is pale yellow in color, with greenish tones, and its aromas are a mix of floral and fruity. The Sauvignon Blanc grape variety gives it a honeyed profile in aroma. In the mouth it is intense, frank, cheerful, with great harmony between its components and long persistence.
2008 Reserve Team, three medals
The red Selección Reserva 2008 from Bodegas Yuntero already has three medals: the aforementioned silver from the Berliner Wein Trophy 2015; the Gold awarded at the 21st edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2014, which took place last year in Belgium; and the silver received in the 2014 edition of the Spanish Bacchus awards.
With the La Mancha Designation of Origin, it is made 100% with the Tempranillo grape variety. It has a long maceration with fermentation at a temperature of 24-25° C. After this process, it is aged for twelve months in mixed oak barrels (French oak bottoms and American oak staves). Before being marketed, it spends two years in the bottle.
Cherry red in color, with a brick-like color, it has great aromatic complexity, highlighting the spicy and balsamic notes of its aging in barrels, as well as roasted notes of coffee and mocha. In the mouth, it is a very round, smooth and elegant wine, with very sweet tannins, and great persistence.
Epilogue Roble 2012, repeats silver in Berlin
This is the second time that Epílogo Roble wine has received a silver medal in the Berliner Wein Trophy competition. In 2013, the Epílogo Roble from the 2011 vintage received the silver award, and in the recently held edition it repeated the medal, this time with the 2012 vintage.
With the La Mancha Designation of Origin, it is made with the Tempranillo (65%) and Merlot (35%) grape varieties, whose wines are made independently, undergoing light aging separately in mixed oak barrels (American and French). ). After five months, the final blend is made.
It is an intense color, purplish cherry red with a maroon rim. On the nose, the aromas of red forest fruits, violets and fruit compote (currant, blackberry, cherry) intermingle, in addition to the aromas provided by barrel aging such as notes of coconut, vanilla, roasted and smoked. It is very tasty in the mouth, persistent and with a long finish.
