The City Council of Manzanares (Ciudad Real) has awarded the Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative the award for “Business Career”, during the sixth edition of the Business Conferences that were held from November 17 to 18 at the Castle of Good Batteries. The award recognizes the value contributed to the local and regional economy, as well as the creation of wealth in Manzanares for 62 years.
The awards ceremony was attended by, among other personalities, the Minister of Economy and Employment of Castilla La Mancha, Patricia Franco, the President of the Provincial Council, José Manuel Caballero and the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Ciudad Real, Mariano León. The Mayor of Manzanares, Julián Nieva, presented the award to the president of the Cooperative, Felix Cano.
Cano thanked this award on behalf of the 800 members that make up the Cooperative, and reviewed the 62 years of its history, remembering his six predecessors. Presidents who, at different stages and selflessly, contributed, with great effort and dedication, to building the current company: Jesús López Pelaez (12 years), Pedro González Román (4 years), Pedro Capilla (14 years), Antonio Patón Clemente (8 years old), Sinforoso Fernández Camuñas (4 years old) and Juan Luis Lozano Muñoz (12 years old).
Felix Cano continued with the recognition of the 102 members who, with success and courage, founded the Cooperative in 1954, supporting this company with their personal assets. Thanks to this effort and that of subsequent generations, the Cooperative today has the capacity to produce 111 million kilos of grapes, a turnover of more than 37 million euros, a Net Asset Value of 20 million and during the last five years it has developed investments for value of more than 20 million euros. In Cano's words: "today we tell the founders that we remember his memory and that they can feel proud of the contribution they made."
The president of the Cooperative also thanked the different managers, technical directors and workers of the Cooperative for their work, who have contributed with their knowledge and dedication to the growth of the company, with special mention to the current manager Ramón Alcarazo who took office in 1993 facing to a difficult stage and managed to overcome the situation with notable success.
During his speech, Cano indicated that the Cooperative was not only established as an instrument of defense for the farmer, but also as an economic anchor to give solidity to the development of a town and a region.
Finally, Felix Cano congratulated the rest of the award-winning companies during the Business Conference and reiterated his gratitude to the Manzanares City Council and Mayor Julián Nieva for granting this award and for maintaining activities and initiatives like these.
