Two red wines from Bodegas Yuntero, the Yuntero Reserva 2010 red wines and the organic Mundo de Yuntero Tinto 2015, have been awarded the gold medal in the Japanese competition “Sakura, Japan Women's Wine Awards 2016”, which is characterized by having a jury composed exclusively of women, specifically 380 professionals in the wine sector.
In this third edition of the contest, which has great relevance and impact in the professional media in Japan, a total of 3,543 wines from 35 countries have competed, of which 401 wines are Spanish and 149 have won awards.
The Japanese market is considered one of the most demanding in the world. Therefore, these two gold medals represent an excellent letter of presentation for Bodegas Yuntero in the Japanese market, as well as a badge of prestige among local consumers.
The SAKURA 2016 awards ceremony will take place on March 8 in Tokyo (Japan), during the FOODEX 2016 food and beverage fair, the largest exhibition of samples in the food and beverage sector in Asia.
Currently, Bodegas Yuntero markets its products in twenty countries. It allocates 86% of its production to export, with one of its objectives being the Asian market. It should be noted that at the beginning of 2014, Bodegas Yuntero opened its first commercial office in China, where it has its own and native staff; thus facilitating immersion in Asia and participation in the most important wine fairs in the area, such as VINEXPO Asia-Pacific, TOPWINE or the Yantai International Wine Festival exhibition.
Yuntero Reserva 2010, obtains its second gold medal in Asia
Since it went on the market in September 2015, Bodegas Yuntero's Reserva 2010 red wine has received two gold medals in Asia. The first in Daejeon (Korea), during the Asia Wine Trophy competition, in November 2015; and the second, in the Japanese SAKURA competition, which has just been held in Tokyo.
With La Mancha Designation of Origin, Yuntero Reserva wine is made 100% with the Tempranillo grape variety. It has a long maceration with fermentation at a temperature of 24-25° C. After this process, it is aged for twelve months in mixed oak barrels (French oak bottoms and American oak staves). Before being marketed, it spends two years in the bottle.
Cherry red in color, with a brick-like color, it has great aromatic complexity, highlighting the spicy and balsamic notes of its aging in barrels, as well as roasted notes of coffee and mocha. In the mouth, it is a very round, smooth and elegant wine, with very sweet tannins, and great persistence.
Bodegas Yuntero's organic red wine awarded gold
In 1992, the Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative was a pioneer in Castilla-La Mancha in producing and marketing wine from organic farming, under the Mundo de Yuntero brand. It then allocated five hectares of its land exclusively for organic farming. Today it already uses 1,700 hectares for this type of cultivation, reaching an annual production of organic grapes of 17.5 million kilos.
The Mundo de Yuntero red wine, from the 2015 vintage, awarded the gold medal in the SAKURA 2016 competition, is obtained after careful preparation and selection of the organic grape varieties Tempranillo (50%), Merlot (25%) and Syrah (25%). It is cherry colored with purple tones, with aromas reminiscent of ripe berries and wild red fruits. In the mouth, it is harmonious, structured and with character.
