Bodegas Yuntero, eighteen awards in the current campaign

The Epílogo Sauvignon Blanc and Lazarillo Verdejo wines, both from the 2016 vintage, each received silver medals at the 28th edition of the Gran Selección Awards, the longest running competition organized by the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha, through the Ministry of Agriculture.

In this new edition of the contest, which aims to recognize the agri-food industry of Castilla-La Mancha and enhance the quality and richness of La Mancha products, a total of 569 companies from the region have participated, with the 70% of them wineries. The awards were announced in Tarancón, on June 21, at a gala attended by the President of the Board, Emiliano García Page, and the Minister of Agriculture, Francisco Martínez Arroyo, among many other personalities.

Eighteen medals for Bodegas Yuntero, in a "very good" vintage

With these two new silver medals from the Gran Selección Awards, Bodegas Yuntero adds a total of eighteen awards in the current 2016-2017 campaign, obtained in different national and international competitions. Of the eighteen awards received, twelve have been for wines from the 2016 vintage, which has just been qualified by the La Mancha Designation of Origin (DO) Regulatory Council as “very good”.

As reported by the Council itself, in a press release on Monday June 26, a high percentage of the wines evaluated by the tasters exceeded the scale of 80 points, reflecting the very good quality of the wines of this vintage with DO La Stain.

Among some of the awards that Bodegas Yuntero has received for its wines from the 2016 vintage, the gold medal for the organic wine Mundo de Yuntero Blanco 2016 awarded in the Berliner Wein Trophy contest stands out; the Baco de la Plata awarded by the Spanish Union of Tasters to the Yuntero Macabeo 2016 wine; or the two EcoRacimos de Plata –a contest that exclusively rewards organically produced wines– that won the Mundo de Yuntero 2016 wines, both in their red and white grape versions.

Epilogue Sauvignon Blanc 2016, five times awarded

El vino blanco Epílogo Sauvignon Blanc, también de la añada 2016, ha recibido en total cinco premios en la presente campaña: cuatro medallas de plata en los certámenes Gran Selección, en Bacchus de la Unión Española de Catadores, en el concurso internacional con sede en Vitoria Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition 2017, y en los premios a la Calidad de los Vinos Embotellados y Varietales que otorga la Denominación de Origen Castilla-La Mancha; así como la medalla de bronce en el concurso británico International Wine Spirit Competition.

With Designation of Origin La Mancha, it is a wine made with the Sauvignon Blanc and Moscatel grape variety (90% and 10%, respectively), of great aromatic intensity and in which the floral and exotic aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc variety (grapefruit, mango, passion fruit) with the muscatel tones of the Muscatel variety. On the palate it is very fresh and with good volume. The combination of the two grape varieties gives it a honeyed, soft and silky sensation.

Lazarillo Verdejo 2016, twice silver

This season, the white wine Lazarillo Verdejo from Bodegas Yuntero 2016 has won two silver medals: the one recently awarded at the Gran Selección de Castilla-La Mancha awards and at the aforementioned Catavinum, to which 3,480 samples from twenty different countries were presented. .

This wine is characterized by its aromas of freshly cut grass, fennel, citrus and green apple. Made 100% with Verdejo grapes, it is clean and bright, straw yellow in color with greenish reflections. On the palate it is very fresh, it leaves a good finish and a slightly bitter touch, characteristic of the variety.
