The Jesús del Perdón Cooperative of Manzanares has obtained three awards in the IX Bacchus International Wine Competition 2010, from the Spanish Union of Tasters. A total of 1,625 wines from 21 countries participated in this event.
In the ninth edition of Bacchus, held in the halls of the Madrid Casino, more than 80 expert tasters of national and international renown gathered, counting on media figures, with the presence of the main prescribers and specialized critics of the sector. wine, as well as of a marked technical nature, among which stood out an authentic Master of Wine such as John Salvi or the president of the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED), Beatrice da Ros.
The wine Yuntero Rosado 2009 got the Gold medal of its category. It is a wine made with the Tempranillo and Syrah varieties, with a cold maceration of the grapes for twelve hours to obtain that intense pinkish hue, followed by bleeding of the yolk must for final cold settling for 48 hours at about 6-8ºC. The settled yolk must, with very little turbidity, is fermented at temperatures between 14-16ºC, thus lasting about 20 days. It has an attractive and intense raspberry red color. On the nose it is amazing, highlighting the notes of strawberry and raspberry. In the mouth, its balance, meatiness and complexity stand out. It has great structure and persistence.
The Yuntero Macabeo 2009 has won the Silver medal. It is made with the Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscatel varieties from mechanized night harvest, to undergo a small cold maceration and subsequent racking of the yolk must for 48 hours at temperatures of 6-8ºC, so that its fermentation does not start. Subsequently, fermentation of the settled yolk must, with very little turbidity, at temperatures of 14-16ºC, thus lasting the fermentation for about 20 days.
It has a pale steely yellow color with greenish tones, clean, crystalline and bright. On the nose, floral aromas mix with fruity ones. The mixture of these three varieties gives it a very interesting aromatic complexity. In the mouth it is intense, frank and cheerful, demonstrating great harmony between its components.
The other Silver medal it's for him Yuntero Reserve 2004. Made with hand-harvested Tempranillo grapes, selected from the oldest vineyards of the Jesús del Perdón Cooperative. Long maceration of the grapes during fermentation at a temperature of 24-25ºC, to be subsequently aged for twelve months in mixed oak barrels (French oak bottoms and American oak staves). In the bottle, it spends at least two years before going on the market. It is cherry red in color, with a medium-high layer, well covered. The spicy and balsamic notes from the barrel aging stand out, along with very pleasant roasted, coffee and mocha notes. In the mouth it is a very round, smooth and elegant wine, with very sweet tannins.
