About ASPATA5
ASPATA5 (Association of People Affected by the SPATA5 Gene Mutation) brings together families affected by this ultra-rare genetic disease, which causes intellectual disability, global developmental delay, epilepsy, muscular, auditory and visual alterations, among other symptoms.
The association promotes scientific research, the social visibility of this pathology and comprehensive support for families affected.
Currently, there are known about 40 cases worldwide and barely a dozen in Spain, which makes their work a key element in advancing knowledge and the search for treatments. It should be noted that in Manzanares we have a child affected by this terrible disease.
