Bodegas Yuntero has won two new silver medals for its young white wines Epilogue Sauvignong Blanc and the organic Mundo de Yuntero Blanco, which have been awarded prizes respectively in the twenty-fourth edition of the French contest International Vinalies, and in the ninth of Ecovino Awards.
More than 3,500 wines from all over the world have participated in the Vinalies Internationales 2018 contest, which have been valued by a jury made up of 130 international expert tasters. Only two wines with Designation of Origin La Mancha have received an award in this new edition of the French contest, one of them being white wine Epilogue Sauvignon Blanc 2017 (silver medal), which recently obtained gold in the French Challenge International du Vin competition.
Organized by the Union of Winemakers of France, Vinalies Internationales is one of the most prestigious wine industry competitions with international projection. Having a Vinalies medal means a quality certification for the winery, as well as meaning an indisputable guarantee of product quality for the final consumer.
Ecovino, the organic wines contest
The ninth edition of the Ecovino Awards was held on May 3 and 4 at the La Rioja Scientific-Technological Complex. The awards ceremony will take place on June 22 in Logroño. The Ecovino Awards jury has been chaired by Antonio Palacios, Professor of Sensory Analysis at this university, and has included thirty national and international tasters of recognized prestige. In total, they evaluated 232 wines from 30 wine-growing regions. A total of ten wines from the La Mancha region received a medal, of which seven have Tierra de Castilla Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) and three have the La Mancha Denomination of Origin (DO), one of the latter being organic white Mundo de Yuntero 2017.
Since its creation, Ecovino has aimed to promote and recognize the production of wines from organic farming, thus promoting respect and care for the environment. Bodegas Yuntero is a pioneer in Castilla-La Mancha in the production of organic wines. In 1992, he opted for their elaboration and launched them on the market under the Mundo de Yuntero brand. Precisely in this year 2018 the winery celebrates the twenty-fifth anniversary of the birth of its Eco wines.
Epilogue Sauvignon Blanc 2017, silver medal at Vinalies
This white wine from Bodegas Yuntero, with the Designation of Origin La Mancha, is made with the Sauvignon Blanc (90%) and small grain Muscatel (10%) grape varieties. Each variety is worked separately to later make the final blend.
It is a bright, pale yellow wine with great aromatic intensity. The floral and exotic aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc variety (grapefruit, mango, passion fruit) are very well integrated with the muscatel tones of the Muscatel variety. On the palate, it is a very fresh wine, with good volume. It has a honeyed, soft and silky sensation. The small natural carbonic point that the wine has gives it freshness. The palate is long and persistent.
Mundo de Yuntero Blanco 2017, silver medal in Ecovino
The organic white wine from Bodegas Yuntero is a blend of the Verdejo (75%) and Sauvignon Blanc (25%) grape varieties, strictly selected from the Bodegas Yuntero vineyards that adhere to the organic farming regulations.
It is a bright, pale yellow wine in which fine fruity and floral aromas stand out. On the palate it is fresh, cheerful and delicate, with a long finish.
