The Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative has been awarded two Silver Bacchus in the sixteenth edition of the international competition organized by the Spanish Union of Tasters (UEC), which was held in Madrid between March 8 and 12.
The award-winning wines are the two whites that the winery produces under the Yuntero brand: the Yuntero Macabeo wine, a blend of the Macabeo and Sauvignon Blanc varieties; and the new Yuntero Verdejo, launched on the market for the first time with the 2017 vintage, and which is made 100% with the Verdejo variety.
Bacchus 2018, more than 1700 wines tasted
During the five days that the sixteenth edition of the Bacchus competition lasted, a jury made up of eighty tasters, including ten Masters of Wine, evaluated, in a strict blind tasting, a total of 1,735 samples, from nineteen countries. Ten wines received the Grand Gold Medal; 171, the Gold Bacchus and 340 samples, the Silver Bacchus.
The Bacchus competition is the only one held in Spain endorsed by the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED). It is recognized by the International Organization of La Viña (OIV) and the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment.
Yuntero Verdejo 2017
In the current campaign, Bodegas Yuntero has launched this new wine made 100% with the Verdejo grape variety. It is a clean, very bright wine, straw yellow in color and with greenish reflections. On the nose, it has a medium aromatic intensity, with notes of freshly cut grass, fennel, citrus and green apple.
With Designation of Origin La Mancha, it is a very fresh wine on the palate, with a medium/high acidity, very balanced with the fruit. It leaves a good finish and a slightly bitter touch, typical of the Verdejo variety.
Yuntero Macabeo 2017
A blend wine of the Macabeo (85%) and Sauvignon Blanc (15%) grape varieties. The mixture of these two grapes gives it a very interesting aromatic complexity, merging floral aromas with fruity ones. The small contribution of the Sauvignon Blanc grape gives it a somewhat honeyed profile. It has a pale steely yellow color with greenish tones, clean, crystalline and bright.
In the mouth, this Denomination of Origin La Mancha wine is intense, frank and cheerful, demonstrating great harmony between its components. It is full in the mouth and with a long persistence.
