Three wines from Bodegas Yuntero, the white Epílogo from the 2015 vintage and the reds Epílogo Roble 2013 and Yuntero Reserva 2010, have been awarded the silver medal in the 22nd edition of the Vinalies Internationales 2016 competition, held during the last week of February in Paris and whose results have just been made public.
Organized by the Union of Winemakers of France, it is one of the wine sector competitions with the greatest prestige and international projection. A Vinalies medal is synonymous with quality and provides the final consumer with an indisputable guarantee of the excellence of the product.
In this latest edition of the French competition, more than 3,600 wines from all over the world have been presented. The samples were evaluated, through blind tasting, by a jury of 140 tasters of up to 40 different nationalities.
Six more silver medals at CATAVINUM
In this same competition, three other wines from the winery have also received silver: the organic Mundo de Yuntero Blanco 2015, and the red wines Yuntero Crianza 2012 and Yuntero Tempranillo 2015. More than 3,150 wines and spirits were presented in this competition, from up to 28 countries, of which 937 were awarded.
Yuntero Reserva 2010 accumulates six medals
With the La Mancha Designation of Origin, it is made with the Tempranillo grape variety (100%), collected by manual harvest from the oldest vineyards owned by the Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative. It has a long maceration of the grapes during fermentation, at a temperature of 24-25ºC. After this process, it is aged for twelve months in mixed oak barrels (French oak bottoms and American oak staves) and, before being marketed, it spends at least two years in the bottle.
With a brick-red cherry red color, it is a wine of great finesse and aromatic complexity. The spicy and balsamic notes of its barrel aging stand out, as well as very pleasant roasted notes of coffee and mocha. In the mouth, it is a very round, smooth and elegant wine, with very sweet tannins, which leaves great persistence.
White Epilogue 2015, twice silver
The Epílogo white wine from Bodegas Yuntero, fruit of the 2015 harvest, is made with the Sauvignon Blanc (90%) and Moscatel de grano Menudo (10%) grape varieties. Each variety is made separately to then make the final blend. It is a bright, pale yellow wine and has great aromatic intensity. The floral and exotic aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc variety (grapefruit, mango, passion fruit) are very well integrated with the muscatel tones of the muscatel variety. In the mouth, it is a very fresh wine, with good volume. It has a honeyed, soft and silky feel. The small point of natural carbon that the wine has gives it freshness. The palate is long and persistent.
El joven blanco Epílogo 2015 suma ya dos medallas de plata: en Vinalies Internationales 2016 (Francia) y Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition 2016 (España).
