General Assembly of Members

August 26, 2015

Last Sunday, August 23, in a massive General Assembly of Members, the Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative held the traditional Harvest Assembly, where the Campaign Rules were unanimously approved, where a harvest similar to the last campaign is expected, although there is a harvest reduction of around 25%, motivated by the high temperatures suffered this summer. The incorporation of 60 new Partners will compensate for these losses and it is expected to produce around one hundred million kilos of grapes.

In these Standards, the quality criteria that will be determined at the entrance of each vehicle into the warehouse were approved, in order to be able to select the different qualities according to their analytical parameters. The analyzes that will be carried out will be: Baumé Degree, pH, Total Acidity, Potassium and Gluconic.

Bodegas Yuntero produces a wide range of varieties of white grapes: Airén, Macabeo, Verdejo, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscatel de Gran Menudo; In this campaign they incorporate 2 new varieties: Parellada and Viognier. Regarding red grapes: Tempranillo, Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Malvec.

Like conventional grapes, the Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative was a pioneer in Castilla La Mancha in producing organic grapes, also of different varieties.

The quality of the grapes after the various samplings carried out in the field by winery technicians is considered very good, currently being in perfect health condition and slow and excellent maturation.

Investment plan
At the Assembly, the Members were informed of the Investment Plan that is currently being executed, for the amount of: 6 million euros, in the Winery Section, to adapt it to growth, due to the entry of new Members, as well as to provide it with the most advanced technology for the milling and production of its wines.

The investments made have been: 13,000,000 liters of stainless steel containers of different capacities, equipped with cold technology to control temperatures during fermentation, cold equipment (currently the Cooperative has 7,000,000 refrigerators installed), self-emptying tanks for the fermentation of red wines with the Ganymede system, decanter, filters, and pneumatic press. As well as construction of a warehouse for a work area and wine preparation, new laboratories, technical offices, and a tasting room.

Among the investments, the expansion of the Treatment Plant, built last year, has been carried out to be able to process all the discharges and comply with the Municipal Regulations and Regulations.

In the management report, the Members were informed in detail of the development of the last campaign in the different activities and Sections of the Cooperative, anticipating the billing of this campaign that will reach 38 million in income, as well as the settlements of the different varieties and classifications of grapes contributed by all the Members in the 2014 harvest, resulting in competitive prices higher than market prices.

The closing of the aforementioned General Assembly was attended by the General Director of Food Industries and Cooperatives Mr. Agapito Portillo, the technician of the Department of Agriculture Ms. María José Carmona, the delegate of Agriculture of the province of Ciudad Real Ms. María-Prado Amores and the Mayor of Manzanares Mr. Julián Nieva, expressing to the Partners the support of the Department of Agriculture and the City Council of Manzanares for this Cooperative so that they can carry out their projects and continue with their projection of integration, positioning and development, as they have been doing in recent years, being a model Winery-Cooperative in its management and results.
