The Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative obtained a Gold Medal and another Silver Medal in the 17th edition of the Berliner Wein Trophy 2013, one of the most prestigious international wine competitions that took place in February 2013 in Berlin (Germany). A total of 3,800 samples were submitted to the contest, sponsored by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV).
The red wines Epílogo Roble 2011 and the ecological Mundo Yuntero Tempranillo 2012, received, respectively, the Silver and Gold Medals by a jury made up of more than a hundred international tasters.
Mundo Yuntero Tempranillo 2012 (Gold Medal)
It is an organic red wine obtained after careful production and selection of grapes from the Bodegas Yuntero vineyards that are covered by the Organic Agriculture regulations.
It is made with Tempranillo (85%) and Syrah (15%) varieties. It has seven days of maceration with fermentation at a controlled temperature. It is cherry colored with purple tones. Its most characteristic aromas: ripe berries and wild red fruits. In the mouth it is harmonious, structured and with character.
During 2013, Mundo Yuntero Tempranillo 2012 also obtained the Bronze Medal in the sixteenth edition of the Competition for the Quality of Bottled and Varietal Wines of the La Mancha Denomination of Origin, granted by this Regulatory Council.
All these awards guarantee the careful production of Bodegas Yuntero in its line of organic wines, Mundo. It should be noted that 2014 marks twenty years since the Jesús del Perdón-Bodegas Yuntero Cooperative introduced its brand of organic wines, also being the first of its kind produced in Castilla-La Mancha.
Oak Epilogue 2011 (Silver Medal)
It is made with Tempranillo (65%) and Merlot (35%) varieties. The wines from both varieties are made independently with a maceration of approximately ten days, with fermentation at about 24° C. Subsequently, both wines undergo, separately, a light aging in mixed oak barrels (American and French). . After five months, the final blend is made.
It is an intense color, purplish cherry red with a maroon rim. On the nose, the aromas of red forest fruits, violets and fruit compote (currant, blackberry, cherry) intermingle, in addition to the aromas provided by barrel aging such as notes of coconut, vanilla, roasted and smoked. It is very tasty in the mouth, persistent and with a long finish.
During 2013, the Epílogo Roble 2011 wine has also been awarded a Silver Medal in the 20th edition of the Brussels World Competition, held in Bratislava (Slovakia), and another Bronze in the Regional Wine Quality Competition of the Regional Fair of Campo de Castilla-La Mancha (FERCAM), which celebrated its 53rd edition in July 2013, and which takes place in Manzanares (Ciudad Real), a municipality that houses Yuntero's offices and warehouses.
