The young wine Epílogo Sauvignon Blanc, from the 2018 vintage, produced by Bodegas Yuntero, has been awarded a Gold BACO in the thirty-third edition of the National Young Wine Contest, a contest organized by the Spanish Union of Tasters (UEC), and whose results have been made public on Friday, May 31.
The BACO Awards, which have been held since 1986, are the longest-running of those annealed by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, and in which only young wines enter the competition, with those of this latest edition being those made with the 2018 harvest.
A jury, made up of a total of 55 members of the Spanish Union of Tasters, Spanish references in sommelier, oenology and specialized criticism have been in charge of evaluating the registered wines, in a strict blind tasting, last Wednesday May 29 , in Madrid.
Epilogue Sauvignon Blanc 2018, BACO de Oro
The young white wine Epílogo Sauvignon Blanc, from the 2018 vintage, awarded a BACO de Oro, is made 100% with the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety, a fruit that is harvested at night to preserve its freshness. This same wine has been awarded the Silver medal at the French Challenge International du Vin contest, held last April in Bordeaux (France), and another Silver at the Quality Awards for Bottled and Varietal Wines of the Denomination of Origin La Mancha.
For the elaboration of the Epilogue Sauvignon Blanc, Bodegas Yuntero does not carry out any type of pressing, the must is extracted by direct bleeding, and is fermented at very low temperatures to extract greater aromatic expressiveness.
It is a brilliant wine, pale greenish yellow in color, and of great intensity and aromatic complexity, in which the floral and exotic aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc variety (grapefruit, mango, passion fruit) are very well integrated. On the palate it is very fresh, with good volume, soft, delicate and with a long and persistent palate.
